Winter Weather in Roseville CA
Yes, I know. The calendar says it is February 26 and that is only 22 days away from spring. And we were enjoying some lovely spring weather for a while. I enjoyed it muchly! BUT we are now back in winter weather in Roseville CA. And, after all, it IS STILL winter! So I guess we shouldn't be surprised? Tho I know some of us are. It definitely had me wearing my wooly sweaters and cozy fleece-lined sweatshirts!Ā So before we jump into our Roseville CA Real Estate Market Update 2-26-23, I wanted to share some more weather info with you. š
For those researching moving to Roseville CA, or maybe even retiring in Roseville CA, who may be feeling a bit stressed about all this rain and wind, I would like to encourage you with the info this is NOT our normal winter weather. It only happens every few years. And we have the drought record to prove it. š
Tracking the Charts for Our Rain Weather in Roseville CA Sacramento CAĀ
Here are some charts from the National Weather Service for Sacramento. Since we are so close, for the most part, we often have pretty much the same weather, though there may be some minor exceptions.
In the first two charts below, ignore the snow column. Roseville did not get any last month and neither did Sacramento.
(Both areas DID get weather alerts that they MIGHT get snow this week. I believe Sacramento did get hail and I know Roseville did – but very minimal. BUT I have to say, it it was fun to THINK we might get snow. And to put all that in perspective, yesterday was a VERY unusual weather day all over California and up into Oregon and Washington. They actually DID get snow in Santa Cruz AND the Devore area of Southern California. š
There was, however, a LOT of rain and other fun weather in Roseville CA as well as Sacramento. We have had about 5.12 inches of rain compared to the normal 3.66 inches. Interestingly though, in spite of extra rain and wind, our average temperatures were just a shade over the norm.
As you can see below, our normal total rainfall in January is 3.66 and the normal rainfall for the full month of February is 3.49 inches. It looks like we were at 1.37 inches but after the rain of the last few days, we should be closer to the norm for February too. š
The chart below runs from 2000 to 2022 – and shows the total precipitation for the Sacramento Roseville area each month, along with the mean and max totals at the bottom.
And the chart below is an almanac for the date, February 26, for each year from 1941 to now, including record highest and lowest numbers for temperatures, rain, snow, etc ON February 26. Note that the 2 inches of snow recorded on February 26, 1976. So we do occasionally get snow, but it's definitely rare.
And check out the latest Drought Monitor, as of January 2023. I can't WAIT to see February's which is due out March 8, 2023!!! How about you?

This was a lot of fun to research and hopefully interesting for you to read. But now it's on to our local Roseville CA Real Estate Market Update 2-26-23 for Roseville and the surrounding area.
