Moving to Sun City Roseville
My parents moved to Sun City Roseville many years ago to be closer to me. My dad‘s health was declining due to his Parkinson's Disease. He'd been diagnosed with it 10 years earlier but had done a great job of “holding it at bay” by staying very active. They had spent the past ten years living in a warmer climate where he could golf daily. Turns out that was the healthiest thing he could’ve done.
TODAY'S Senior Retirement Community
But now the time had come to be near me to help both of them with various health issues. (Not to mention, get in more grandkid time!) They moved into temporary quarters in a local apartment and started house hunting and visiting open houses. When I first told them about Sun City Roseville golf community, which was fairly new at the time, they thought I was talking about a nursing home for them and my mom, especially, was quite upset. Then they visited the models and realized it was the furthest thing from a nursing home that you could imagine. They had never seen a senior retirement community as nice as Sun City Roseville in all the years they have been caring for their own parents. With approximately 1200 acres full of lush plants, trees, flowers, and cute critters, it was a sheer delight for them to see.
Golf Course and Open Space Joys
My mom thrilled to take her walks on the streets and around the open spaces, watching in delight to see rabbits, geese, ducks, and other cute birds. My dad is in heaven now with the Lord but back then he was in “seventh heaven” so to speak as he enjoyed playing golf every day, alternating between the delightful 9 hole and 18 hole golf courses. And YES! He was still walking on that Sun City Roseville golf course rather than riding a golf cart, for the first four years they lived in Sun City Roseville. Again, that was the best thing he could’ve done to continue staving off the most debilitating aspects of Parkinson’s disease! He loved the golf, he loved the view, and he loved having fun with his various Sun City Roseville friends and neighbors, as did my mom! (Well, except for the golf, as she rarely played.
Walking At Westfield Galleria at Roseville
That wasn’t the only thing he did. of course. A few years after they moved in, he and mom were thrilled when the Westfield Galleria at Roseville opened up – my mom, especially. It was perfect timing as he was starting to experience more issues with the Parkinson's which made golfing a bit more difficult. But even on days he couldn't golf – whether due to his Parkinsons' or the weather, he and mom could go to the Mall before the stores opened for the special walking options available there, to this day. I could often join them and we would walk around the mall one or two times. He even made friends there! Then he and I would sit and chat while mom enjoyed window and real shopping. The last year or so of walking beside the lovely Sun City Roseville golf courses, as well as the mall, was with a rollator, followed by a wheelchair. I'm so grateful for the lovely sidewalks all along the golf courses and throughout Sun City! He was able to continue to enjoy staying active thanks to the lovely and easy-to-walk terrain at Sun City Roseville – with minimal hills and those easy walking sidewalks and paths. Thankfully they enabled him, and so many others, to keep enjoying seeing his beloved golf courses and other favorite sights at Sun City Roseville.
Healthy Living at Sun City Roseville
As you can tell walking was a great habit both he and my mom enjoyed together and passed down to me. Now I get to walk along the sweet Sun City Roseville golf courses and enjoy the beautiful views and the cute critters! As I have written before, I am not a golfer. Dad didn’t manage to pass that on to me. Tennis and pickle ball are more my cup of tea, along with walking. I have also enjoyed the swimming pool with my mom. Dad would have fun on the treadmills while we walked up and down the pool. All of these are wonderful ways to stay active, keeping us healthier and younger. And how grand that all of these are great options in Sun City Roseville! I'm happy with all of them. But I can tell you right now – if my dad was here, he'd still vote for the two gorgeous golf courses, still wonderfully maintained, as his favorites of Sun City.
Sun City Roseville Golf Course Home
As a real estate agent in Roseville CA, I've learned well that one of the most popular house hunts here are the Sun City Roseville golf course properties. They are a rare breed and when one pops up, there’s always a lot of interest! Right now there are around 18 homes for sale and of those only ONE is a golf course lot. But oh my, it's a BEAUTIFUL home with a GORGEOUS view of a Sun City Roseville golf course. You can enjoy the view from your private patio, your enclosed sun room or your master bedroom. Awesome!
Country Rose Model – My Fave of Sun City Roseville Floor Plans
This particular house is a Country Rose model which is one of my favorite of the Sun City Roseville floor plans. Del Webb floor plans are always great but this particular one is especially nice. (I also love the Shasta, the Yosemite… and a few others as well! 😉 ).
