Why I Love Multigenerational Homes For Sale In Roseville CA
Two story homes are great for large families. We were thrilled to buy one when we first moved to Roseville back around 1994. It was a lovely home, with great neighbors and a terrific neighborhood. It gave us FOUR bedrooms for our THREE kids and us not to mention 2.5 bathrooms! (Our old house in Southern California was 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and we were in seventh heaven to have the extra space. At the time, I felt like I was living in the lap of luxury. Until one of our senior parents came to visit. We realized that, to our dismay, this was NOT one of the multigenerational homes for sale in Roseville CA. Why, you may ask? Because it had all four bedrooms upstairs with the two full bathrooms we so appreciated. BUT when our beloved mom came to visit, the stairs were too difficult for her!
We'd never had stairs before and neither had she. So NONE of us even thought about that fact. She was wonderful about it. She slept on the couch and did sponge baths in the half bath. And we greatly appreciated her cheerful attitude about it all. But that's when I realized how vital a “multigenerational mindset” was for buying homes. And I made sure to keep that mindset once I because a licensed REALTOR. It goes hand in hand with another important mindset – “aging in place.”
While helping with grandkids in Kentucky, we became good friends with a lovely retiree who was still living in her 1800s or early 1900s 2 story house that had the steepest stairs you ever saw. She lived alone and had quite using her bedroom upstairs. Happily, she did have a full bathroom downstairs but no bedroom so she used her living room. Not the end of the world, I know. But very inconvenient for sure!
We never know what will happen to us through the years. So now, when working with clients who are not looking to buy one of the great retirement homes in Roseville CA or the surrounding area, I always recommend (no matter their age OR if they have family close by) that they seriously consider single story OR one of the large and lovely two story homes with a bedroom and full bathroom on the first floor. That comes in so handy for so many reasons such as:
- when older/elderly company comes to visit
- when you break an ankle and are on bedrest for a few weeks
- when your parents have health issues and move in with you
- when your older teen wants to be a bit more independent but the budget doesn't allow for it
- and more! (And that's just some of what our family went through 😊)
All this to say, I LOVE the many multigenerational homes for sale in Roseville CA and I'm thrilled to share one in particular with you today for one of my virtual open houses in Roseville CA.

Isn't the pool, shown below, gorgeous! Such a large AND lovely back yard. The back yard and well planned and laid out, and you still have plenty of room for a table and chairs (2 sets if you want), a garden, and more.
This lovely home with 3 car garage and a balcony on the second floor is delightful! And it has over $100,000 in upgrades just waiting for you to enjoy!
A gorgeous sweeping stairway at the entry. When I would look at houses with those, I'd picture one of my daughters getting married and home and making a grand entrance on this – they all had non-traditional weddings but none came down a staircase 😊 It was fun to think about though. This would look great decorated at Christmas, don't you think?
Don't you love the formal living and dining rooms – and check out that gorgeous upgraded flooring!
What a beautiful kitchen and so much room! Notice it opens to both the living room on this side…
And the great room on the other side…
So even though you have a more traditional living room dining room and kitchen and family room, it all flows beautifully – great for family reunions, holiday parties, school pool parties, and more!
And for me, the best of all is the downstairs bedroom and bathroom – very nice for company but ESPECIALLY GREAT for those with elderly parents who are combining into a multigenerational household to provide sweet love and care for them. Not only that, there is an upstairs loft that makes for a great living room upstairs as well as the downstairs living room AND family room. This gives you options for separation at times as well as togetherness. As one who lived with my multigenerational family for years and loved it, while caring for elderly parents and still raising teens, I can tell you, a little separation at times is a great way to keep us all together happily. 😊
I love that the bedrooms are all nice sized, as are the bathrooms. The master bedroom suite makes a wonderful haven and it includes a delightful bathroom complete with a soaking tub, separate shower, and two expansive walk-in closets.
On top of all the other great options this house offers, it is also equipped with a fully owned solar system, which provides you with a substantial cost savings – always helpful with larger families, don't you think? .It has a 2 car garage PLUS an adjacent 1 car garage, which you can use as a workout room or more covered parking for your extended family members if they are still driving or for your teens as they start driving. And wow! The list of upgrades is considerable – including the lovely flooring, the enhanced security features and so much more.Â
And, of course, the gorgeous backyard!!!
This lovely home is located close to parks, shopping, restaurants, and gas stations with more to come. It's close to West Park High School, middle schools, and elementary schools in West Roseville CA.
