March – Roars In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb?
PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE MOST RECENT REAL ESTATE MARKET UPDATES FOR OUR ROSEVILLE SACRAMENTO AREA. 😃
Hi there! It's mid-March and in many of our areas, including my own Sacramento region, March is doing plenty of roaring with some wind, rain, thunder, more rain… Thankfully for us here in the Roseville Sacramento area, we are also getting some lovely “lamb-y” days intermixed which is making this March a true delight. Especially since there is also plenty of rain to continue to ease our drought issues.
Real Estate Trends Nationwide
Real Estate across the country is looking good overall! Here's a great infographic to give you a flavor of what's up with the real estate market statistics with year-over-year prices per region. As you can see, our Pacific region is right in the middle at a very nice 7.9% increase to home values for the whole area overall.
A few highlights from this national real estate report include:
- The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) recently released their latest Quarterly Home Price Index report.
- In the report, home prices are compared both regionally and by state.
- Based on the latest numbers, waiting to move may end up costing you more!

Local Real Estate Market Info
How about our local real estate area in this merry month of March? Excellent question. And I've got some new real estate market reports to share with you for just that info.
Sacramento
Fair Oaks
Carmichael
As you can see, the report for each city shows that all have a down arrow on number of days on the market. That's a good sign for sellers that spring is also coming to the real estate market and houses are starting to move more and move faster. Another great sign – sold prices from January 2016 are higher for all areas than January 2015 and quite a bit higher from January 2013. Always good news for sellers.
For buyers, that does mean a house will cost you more. But with interest rates still at historic lows, you are still going to be able to buy a bigger house than if our interest rates were the 8% back in my parents' day – or the even higher rates when we moved to Roseville 20 years ago! 🙂
Real Estate Questions?
If you'd like March 2016 real estate market reports for other cities or zip codes in this area, just send me an email at Kaye@KayeSwain.com and, if I can (depends on the area in question), I'll be glad to send you a pdf of the area you're looking for. Or give me a call at 916-768-0127 for questions. I'm always glad to help you with your real estate needs!
P.S. In case you haven't heard, I have some great Facebook pages for you. KayeSwainRealEstateInfo is very focused on real estate in general and this area specifically. RosevilleCaliforniaJoys is all about Roseville lifestyle, homes, home decor, fun things to do, and more; SacramentoJoys which I JUST started – it's similar to RosevilleJoys only all about the Sacramento Area in general. And for any of you who are not yet home owners and are working at becoming first time home buyers, I have a page just for you (or your kids or grandkids who are in this process 😉 ).
P.P.S. Of course, numbers are numbers and graphs are graphs. And that's a definite part of real estate. But my favorite part is homes, neighborhoods and neighbors. Here are some lovely ones (starting with the mansions!!!! 😉 ) to give you an idea of what's available right now.
