Several of my fellow Keller Williams REALTORS® and I enjoyed a delightful morning previewing some of the great homes for sale in our neck of the woods. As always, I was especially on the alert for any homes with aging in place options to share with you.
It was a tasty time (yummy cupcakes at two of the open houses), we enjoyed previewing both houses and condos, and I was very pleased to see two with some thoughtful aging-in-place options. One beautiful residence was in a gated community with a delightful view of a creek rippling through the community.
This two-story dwelling had a “to-die-for” master suite downstairs, complete with a lovely shower perfect for an elderly senior including a hand held shower hose. There was also a den on the first floor which, with the addition of an armoire or some creative “thinking outside the box,” could easily be used as another bedroom for an elderly senior who doesn't want to have to navigate the stairs.
Speaking of stairs, on the second level, we spotted two large bedrooms, a bathroom with tub, and a deck with a delightful view!
This home, located in a quiet lush garden-forest area, was truly a joy to visit.
Later, I fell in love with another beautiful residence, perfect for busy boomers and seniors who want to be right in the center of things. That's what my senior parents especially appreciated in their 50s and 60s while enjoying their “empty nest.”
It's easy driving to all a big city offers, provides a higher degree of security then most apartments, has minimal steps from your parking spots in the residents' garage to the lobby, and an elevator once you're inside.
This two bedroom home is luxurious, lovely, and practical. PLUS it offers a magnificent view from the patio and the side windows (see photo above).
A delightful dwelling, this could also be a big blessing for an elder-caregiver as there is plenty for their caree to see from the windows. That can be especially nice for an elderly relative who is primarily confined to the house. There's even a delightful view of trains that my sweet hubby and my uncle would have “given their eyeteeth for.” With one bathroom offering a grand shower that is easily accessible, this home would definitely be a treat for caree and caregiver.
Well, that's just two of the very intriguing places we previewed this week. I do love a rich variety available of homes – condos, houses, half-plexes and more. Don't you?
