When we first moved to Roseville CA, we house hunted all over the city. We discovered that the 95661 area (East Roseville) was a delightful mature area that was a bit higher than our budget. We loved the mature landscaping in the 95678 (Central Roseville) area, but at the time, there weren't any houses available that were big enough for our family of teens. We eventually ended up in West Roseville, 95747, and loved it.
Among many other lovely areas in West Roseville, there is the Crocker Ranch area. As is true for most of our Roseville houses (our city has over 74 parks!), the Crocker Ranch area is full of lovely parks including two cute little parks, the 9 acre Mel Hamel Park off Crocker Ranch Road and Opal Drive at 10080 Crocker Ranch Road, Roseville 95747 and the 2 acre Harrigan Greens Park off of Fiddyment Road and Parkland Way at 4051 Parkland Way, Roseville 95747. In the general vicinity, you can also easily get to Veteran's Memorial Park; Veteran's Memorial Park North; the Williams “Bill” Hughes 31 acre park that includes lighted tennis and basketball courts and soccer field, walking trails, and a fenced off-leash dog park; the Leonard “Duke” Davis 4 acre park, Blue Oaks Park with 2 acres that are developed and 41 acres undeveloped land, and the proposed regional park off Blue Oaks Blvd. near Fiddyment. Some of the schools in the area include Diamond Creek Elementary School, Blue Oaks Elementary School, Fiddyment Farm Elementary School, and Cooley Middle School. All of these schools and others are part of the Roseville City School District and you would call them to discuss which school your child(ren) would go to, depending on classroom and school size and other needs. Their contact info is 1050 Main Street, Roseville, CA 95678, Phone: (916) 771-1600.
Nearby you can also find stores, gas stations, and eating places. Another advantage to a seasoned home is that you don't have to drive as far to get to these handy stops:
- Safeway shopping center with a lunch counter and a pharmacy inside
- Bank of America – also at Safeway shopping center
- Carl's Jr.- also at Safeway shopping center
- La Provence Restaurant
- Raley's Shopping Center
- Subway – also at Raley's Shopping Center
- Starbucks – also at Raley's Shopping Center
- McDonald's
- Gas stations at the McDonald's AND the Safeway shopping center
- And more.
I am a huge fan of the whole city, but because I've spent the majority of my years here on the West side, I think I probably know it the best. I love that the older homes (usually only 20 – 30 years old, while many are much newer) are, overall, staying quite nice. I appreciate all the brand new homes being built. It's definitely fun to buy a brand new house and decide where to put everything – from flooring and wall color to landscaping the back yard. Then again, all those decisions tend to start raising the price. Or you end up delaying things you really wanted, like a back yard for the kids and dogs or a more colorful home decor.
Fortunately, in West Roseville, you can have the best of both worlds fairly easily. There are so many delightful homes that are only 5-20 years old. In house terms, that's a spring chicken! The vast majority of those homes have the yards already in, the painting is all done and gorgeous, and as nice as it is to pick those items, sometimes it's even nicer to just say, “I'll take it” and move right on in a few weeks later when escrow closes. Like this:
This home is no longer available but it was (and is) a great example of some of the lovely homes in the area. Like all of the homes in West Roseville, it's just a short drive from Sun City Roseville and The Club at Westpark by Del Webb – great for those family members overseeing and/or taking care of elderly parents who are still independent in one of those terrific golf and swim retirement homes communities.
You're greeted by a beautiful home with delightful curb appeal that includes low maintenance small gardens for the front beds (great for California drought weather), and a beautiful red door. Inside, you'll be delighted to see laminated wood flooring that should be easy to keep clean, even if you have some sweet dogs or cats. Upstairs, there is a lush-looking and lovely carpeting.
The kitchen combined with a great room is one of my favorite styles. It has always allowed me to make meals while enjoying chatting with my family and friends – yet not making any of us feel too crowded.
Down the hall is a full bathroom and a den with French doors that could easily be used as a bedroom for visitors, or for an elderly relative. Or for that matter a wonderful room for a home office. With so many of us working at home, that's vital. Yet it's often hard to come by. Once upon a time, we turned our tiny formal dining room into an office for the two of us. Can you say TEENSY! In another house, my sweet husband built really nice wall to wall dual desks in our family room that were grand. We put chairs in front of the desks and we really did spend most of our time there – all five of us. It was great, but still a bit crowded. With this home's layout, you'd have plenty of room for your office and MORE! Depending on the size of your family, you could even have the bedroom use downstairs and a den upstairs. Very nice indeed. I do love options, don't you?
The back yard has grass and a concrete patio – very pleasant for sitting outside to enjoy a BBQ or just chit chat while watching friends and family have fun. My grand-dog would love to run around with my grandkids there, I am sure. And I love the back wall that is concrete bricks. Much sturdier than wood fences. That will save on upkeep for years to come.
As you can see, this is a lovely suburban area with enough amenities to put a smile on my face and yours and enough rural wildlife to enable many of us to get to enjoy seeing wild turkeys, cute lizards, and more. I definitely love all of Roseville CA, but I have to admit, I am especially fond of West Roseville for all these sweet things and so much more.
