Great Apps!
Checklists are wonderful things! I used them extensively when I worked for a school district long before we moved to Roseville CA. Instead of “re-inventing the wheel” of what to do in various situations, someone figured out every step, made a checklist, turned the list into a notepad, and we put one of those sheets in every file. As we did each task, we checked it off. Once it was all completed, it was easy to tell if anything had been missed. I loved it.
Now we have awesome iPhone apps that can make checklists for us. My favorite is Errands. It only works on my iPhone and iPad. Using two other apps I love, Simplenote or Evernote, it's easy to put a list into either of those. Then, in my iPhone, I copy the list, open Errands, create a new checklist or edit an existing one, and paste in the list. Very easy and very practical!
As you can imagine, checklists are quite handy for real estate as well! There are many great resources out there that have checklists to help. But nowadays they are often PDF. Sometimes they are easy to select and copy. Sometimes, not so much.
How to Copy an Uncopiable PDF
In case you've run into one of those uncopiable ones, like I did this past week, here's the easy fix I discovered, using another fave app – FILE CONVERTER. It is AWESOME!
And yes, it appears to be available for the Android as well.
It can covert files, video, ebooks, images, audio, or documents to nearly any format! It currently costs $2.99 and is worth every penny!
Here's the process I used on my iPhone:
- Save the pdf to Dropbox.
- Open Dropbox in iPhone
- Find and open the pdf
- Click the 3 circles in top right to get a menu
- Select EXPORT
- Select OPEN IN
- Select COPY TO FILE CONVERTER
- Select TEXT (you can also choose DOC)
- Wait with the window open til it is done converting
- Select OPEN WITH
- Select DROPBOX
- Now open the new text file in Dropbox and you should be able to copy it and then paste it into ERRANDS to be a checklist.
Awesome! 😉
Real Estate Checklists
Among my many real estate and other checklists, I have a TRID escrow checklist, a buyer process checklist, a seller process checklist, a daily checklist, a HUD Home Store process checklist, and more. All with the goal of making the real estate process for my Roseville and Sacramento area clients smoother, easier, and more reliable. Not to mention that this would be a handy app for many of my clients. They could set up a checklist for their own buying process, moving tasks, and so much more! 🙂
