Christmas Delights
Christmas lights can make a neighborhood sparkle!
It's been a fun holiday season for us here in Roseville CA. We've enjoyed Christmas trees everywhere including the Roseville Downtown Square. Visits from Santa Claus there and more to come soon on a firetruck through various neighborhoods.
My grandkids and I have enjoyed Advent wreaths and Nativity scenes in homes and on homes. I've also had such fun viewing and sharing various holiday home decor while taking neighborhood newsletters out.
You can find many of the holiday's delights at my Roseville area blog, RosevilleCaliforniaJoys.com, including two of my latest posts, Roseville Christmas Events 2022 and MORE Roseville Christmas Events 2022 [Including Surrounding Area]. You might also enjoy this section from an older post that mentions an intriguing lesson about living in some homes famous for their annual Christmas lights displays. I learned this while working for a relocation firm when we first moved here.
Christmas Light Neighborhoods
I was calling around to make a list of rentals for a relocation client. One of the homes for rent was on Dovewood Court in Orangevale.
Dovewood has long been famous for its awesome and lovely Christmas lights and holiday displays. So much so, that the owner cautioned me to explain that to the prospective renter. As he pointed out, some people LOVE to decorate, some people don't like to decorate, and some people are kind of in-between.
He recommended discussing with the prospective tenants how THEY felt about decorating. He explained that the tenants would have to be OK dealing with extra traffic starting around Thanksgiving and going on til about New Year's Day. Not to mention occasional news crews, extreme encouragement to decorate their own home – a lot – and more. AND that they would need to be willing to decorate their own home. Apparently, a past tenant had not and left early due to frustration with the situation.
There are lovely light displays all around the city of Roseville as well as the greater Sacramento Valley Area. But the areas with the beautiful, over-the-top, downright spectacular displays are definitely a special treat to all. However, as fun as they are to the residents to see all the admirers, they may also require a special group of neighbors who are ready, willing, and able to go out of their way, working together to create these gorgeous delights. They must also be willing to put up with the extra expense – both for decorations and for utility costs, as well as patiently enduring the side effects of their creations including heavy traffic.
