Holiday Fun For Grandkids and Grandparents

The season was quiet, my grandkids were off school, I had nothing scheduled at my Keller Williams Realty office. So my granddaughter and I finally got a chance to head out on a long-planned and often postponed (mainly due to weather and her school schedule) adventure. We had a ourselves a grand time sightseeing and shopping surrounded in holiday bliss last week. I have to admit, it was VERY busy, being the last shopping weekend before Christmas. I was actually surprised more people weren't at the malls. :) We did have fun, in spite of the busyness. and learned some fun, interesting, and … Continue reading...

Selling Your Home? Keep Those Utilities On Along with Your Heater Or Air Conditioner!

After writing my last post about buying or selling your home during the winter, I've spotted a few other winter advocates in blogs and on Twitter. Two writers, Jean Richer and Lenn Harley, each made an especially important point - which is quite applicable for all seasons. They reminded all sellers to make sure to set the heater for a comfy and WARM temperature, at least for showings. After all, if your house is not warm enough prospective buyers will hurry OUT of your house, back to the car where there may be a warm blanket, and on to another home for sale that might be … Continue reading...

Seems like a grand week to decorate my real estate and other blogs a bit for Christmas. It's perfect timing since I'll be participating in the Caregiving Holiday Progressive Blog Party at SandwichINK. And with plenty of snow in so many spots, it's got me in a Jingle Bell mood! Perfect for one of my favorite Christmas songs by Michael W. Smith, Kay Thompson's Jingle Bells. But first... In case you are thinking of buying or selling your home or other real estate and wondering if you should wait til spring, I do have some food for thought on that topic. Real Estate Resources For Us In SNOW Many Ways

One of the grand advantages of being affiliated with Keller Williams Realty is that they are HUGE on real estate education - a favorite for myself as well! And they are also firm believers in sharing! I have to say, with a big smile at a fun play-on-words, that makes me SNOW happy! :) I use Pinterest as well as working hard to make good use of various other Social Media tools to share with each of you in the way you prefer. At Facebook and G+ you'll find new resources and links added throughout each week that deal with a variety of the issues many boomers and seniors are dealing with often … Continue reading...
Have a Safe AND Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you and your whole family, from young grandkids on up to your senior parents and grandparents, have a blessed and beautiful and SAFE holiday. According to the local fire department: "Thanksgiving is the leading day for home cooking fires, with three times as many occurring on Thanksgiving than any other day of the year!" WOW! Make sure your smoke alarms are working, that you are prepared for any grease fires, and keep those adorable grandkids working on fun holiday craft projects away from the stove - unless they are old enough to help, of course. … Continue reading...
Using Pinterest to Keep Track of Interesting & Useful Resources and Activities For Grandparents and Grandchildren Where We Live

When you move to a new state, there are a TON of new things to learn - new addresses (doubled if you use a post office box), new phone numbers (unless you are able to keep your same number, which is a HUGE help), new neighbors and their names, where your favorite stores are now located - assuming they are near you, and more. When you have kids and grandkids, you also like to learn where some other vital things are - like where there's a Chuck E. Cheese, where the various museums are, what holiday happenings will be going on in your area, and where the best parks and playgrounds are located. … Continue reading...
Moved to A New State? Here Are Some Voting Helps and Hints!

Have you recently moved to a new state? I've said it before and I'll keep on saying it - moving, especially long distance, definitely ain't easy! And it's not just the filling boxes, moving boxes, and putting boxes away that's hard, is it? It's also the learning new areas - like voting? Having lived in several states over the last decade or so, one thing I've learned is that there's a WIDE RANGE OF DIFFERENCES in how different states handle voting. In California, we could vote in person or easily request an absentee ballot. That made it much easier for my senior parents to vote. Where we … Continue reading...
Think Safety Before, During, and After You Move to a New Home – Part 3

Alerts When You Move to a New Home Now that we are getting settled into our new home, I've continued to make progress with safety precautions and alerts. As with many other areas, we have an emergency alert option we can sign up for. Once we are signed up, where ever we live, we will get alerts about emergencies and other important community news including severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons, necessary evacuation, and more. I think that is grand, don't you? Especially in this day and age of so many crises, weather emergencies, and more! If you want to see if your … Continue reading...
